Pilates Teacher Training 2005

600 hour PMA recognized Pilates Certification

The pedagogical portion for this course will take place over the first 12 weeks, the practical portion ends once all required hours are completed. Training can be taken in full or in separate modules.

Training Format

Lecture Demonstration and Teaching Theory (Bi-monthly): Alternate Fridays 12-4 pm (“A” weeks only, see schedule below)

Practical and Observation Groups (weekly): Mondays 1pm-3pm and Wednesdays 1pm -3pm (Pedagogical months only)

Self-Practice: 2x2-hour self-practice sessions per week. (Times arranged with studio)

Week 12: 40 Hour intensive that covers a review, the advanced/super advanced repertoires and kinesiology with its application to Pilates exercises.

Prerequisites for Certification:
An audition or interview and a minimum of 2 years movement experience: dance, yoga or exercise.
PLUS
30 hours of private* Pilates instruction plus 15 mat class hours
OR
40 hours private* Pilates instruction.
OR
Pilates Immersion, offered June and September, See below for information
*Privates can be done concurrently with teacher training

Required Materials: Muscles Testing & Function by Florence Kendall, Anatomy of Movement by Blandine Calais-Germain , Pilates for Dummies by Ellie Herman.

Training manual and videos.Monthly Studio Use Fee: If you continue your practical/teacher training hours at Pilates Palm Springs after the 5th month there will be a monthly studio usage fee of $75 per month.

Testing Fee: $250 for Full Certification. Practical exam can be taken at our sister studio location in San Francisco. Palm Springs examinations by appointment.

THE PILATES IMMERSION
An 8-week Intensive
Offered April & September

•Work with certified instructors on the Mat, Reformer, Springboard, Cadillac, & Wunda Chair

• Required for those who plan to take the Teacher Training Intensive

•Also available for those who want to deepen their understanding of Pilates and qualify for independent workouts and studio membership

• Work with Certified Instructors on the Mat, Reformer, Spring Board, Cadillac, and Wunda Chair

Breakdown:
This is an 8-week program. You will be doing Pilates 4 hours per week as follows:

• 8 Private Sessions (1 per week)

• 12 hours Group Instruction on the Equipment
(1.5 hours per week)

• 12 hours of Group Instruction on the Mat
(1.5 hours per week)
*Large Group will be held on Wednesdays 14-4pm

Goals:
• To learn the Pilates Repertoire (Beginning through Intermediate Levels), build strength, increase flexibility and improve alignment.

• To gain confidence and proficiency with the equipment and the exercises so you can work out on your own.

Precautions:
The Immersion is a rigorous training program, taking students through the Beginning and Intermediate levels at a fairly fast pace. The Immersion is not appropriate for those with serious limitations or injuries.
